(127,844 posts)32. And their concept of the Trinity would be considered heretical
by a lot of mainstream Christians. They believe that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are three distinct beings, and that the Father and Jesus have perfected, glorified, physical bodies, while the Holy Ghost is a spirit without a physical body. This is contrary to the Nicene Creed, which avoids claims of polytheism by decreeing that the Trinity is a single entity with three aspects. They also believe that there are other gods and goddesses, such as a Heavenly Motherwho is married to God the Fatherand that they can attain "godhood" in the afterlife. Joseph Smith taught that God was once a man on another planet before being exalted to Godhood.

It means that there was a potential motive. Nothing justifies that kind of hate and violence though.
