(582 posts)wanted to do that during Desert Storm, they were super short on actual ground troops.......So Cheney gave all the non-combat work to Halliburton which made he and Halliburton Stock Holders an absolute fortune......
I distinctly remember when Rumsfeld stood there, before the war, and told Americans that it would last three days, the people in IRAQ would line the streets throwing flowers as our military had celebration of the victory, marching through all their cities.......AND THE BEST STATEMENT HE MADE WAS: THE WAR WILL ONLY COST THREE BILLION, WHICH IRAQ WILL REPAY US FROM THE SALES OF THEIR OIL......
Last I heard we are still fighting in IRAQ, and the true cost has gone sailing by Two Trillion Dollars, and still counting, mostly due to all the continued care of all the disabled and maimed soldiers that fought during Desert Storm.....and military arms expended during the war and needing replenished......
