In reply to the discussion: I think the Hegseth/Trump MAGA rally staged for stone-faced military brass may be more damaging than anything to date. [View all]Jack Valentino
(4,085 posts)44. Even if he was in pre-alzheimer's, Ronald Reagan AND/OR his advisors
retained the ability to step back from all their anti-Soviet rhetoric
as well as listen to the voice of the people
to negotiate and sign a nuclear weapons reduction treaty with the USSR--
something that came as a complete surprise to me at the time---
and gave me some respect for him, at least on the issue
of nuclear weapons, if nothing else (and it pretty much was nothing else!)
Trump, on the other hand, seems to sincerely believe all of his own lies....
and his entire cabinet seems to believe them as well!
AND, of course, he's a fucking lunatic, as are most of THEM!
Never ever thought I'd ever say this,
but I'd rather be dealing with Ronald Reagan
than the current demented pedo SQUATTER in the White House!

OP
It might be entertaining to have a video of that speech but with the squeaky tank dubbed in for applause lines

I'm sure there are "behind the scenes" discussions of how to manage the crisis when 47 actually orders...

Trump and Hegseth believe their own bullshit, and they rarely step outside the bubble of delusion.

It is mindboggling that no one in their offices was aware of the tradition of non-reaction to electeds/appointeds

I am sure they knew about it, but they thought the flag officers would ignore it

And the nation. Take away the "audience response track" and the vile propaganda stands in stark relief.
