It may be a small evil, but it is truly evil [View all]

So, they are forcing people to deal with things via Medicare.gov rather than phone. So, I'm signing up for Medicare and did it online. But after setting up an account, every single time I log in you must enter a code that is texted to your phone. Wanna guess how long that code is valid for?

10 seconds.

10 fucking seconds.

Now, I don't suffer from arthritis or anything that would slow me down, but the damn code expired on me before I could read the message and enter it at the site on my desktop.

I CANNOT imagine what it would be like for someone with mobility issues or problems with their sight or pain in their hands -- which, I imagine, a "few" people on Medicare are contending with.
