He had a grand total of 3 songs hit the Billboard Pop Chart. "I.O.U." hit #53 in 1983, "Somebody's Gonna Love You" hit #96 also in 1983. "God Bless the U.S.A." missed the pop charts completely when it was originally released in 1984. However, it hit #16 in 2001 when it was re-released after 9/11. His last new song to even hit the country chart was 33 years ago in 1992.

I would imagine well over 99% of the population have never heard another song of his other than "God Bless the U.S.A."

He is the exact opposite of what Mike Johnson claimed he is "someone who appeals to a broader audience". Hell, he never appealed to a single person who didn't listen to country music 35 or more years ago.
