6. My Lai was the tip of the iceberg

I had a friend in the Air Calvary who told me that one morning they flew over a village and took small arms fire from an AK47. They reported this to headquarters and went about their mission for the day. The very next day they flew over the same village and it had been napalmed - 100 to 200 South Vietnamese indiscriminately burned to death.

That’s how we “won over their hearts and minds.”
