China (XI Jinping) and their Intelligence agencies and other high ranking government officials had an opportunity to evaluate Trump and his Administrative cabinet members. An evaluation that probably viewed how this government would react to certain provocations. They realized that Trump is in political problems here and viewed how much they could push him and how would he respond based on his loss of existing political capital and how much more he could afford to lose. They evaluated the senior officials and read them like a book as nothing more than sycophants - without a spine between them.
They realized that by Trump bringing all the CEOs and money men - that they were not a force to contend with - because their interests were not the well-fare of the U.S., but rather their personal well-enrichment. In other words, they realized that our government (and the forces that control our government) is for sell and the only question is 'how much?'.
The biggest thing that they probably confirmed is this - we are a paper tiger with a big roar, and their question is this - how much are we willing to pay in human terms to maintain the illusion of strength.
