That's how disengaged people see politics. They most likely complain about politics all the time because that's what makes them feel involved and it's easier to complain than to sort out the actual facts. Meanwhile, their lack of true interest only serves the crooks and white nationalists. It's why conservatives promote the "both sides" arguments like "both sides need to turn the temperature down" because blaming everyone suits the narrative of the disengaged.
Had a friend complaining about Democrats recently. His only real knowledge of politics is what he hears other people complaining about. This particular time he was griping about "the Democratic Party moving too far to the left." What was his first example?... "Democrats running on trans issues instead of kitchen table issues." I informed him that defending rights as part of ones political stance is different from running on an issue. I told him Democrats were in fact running on kitchen table issues which is why Democrats have had tremendous success in elections after 2024. It's actually republicans RUNNING on "trans issues."
It was in one ear and out the other. He doubled down on a bunch of other BS arguments before I accused him of repeating fox news talking points and extricated myself from the conversation. I would say this guy is very typical.
The dominant culture of white men dedicated to the preservation of white male privilege has the wind at its back. They still get all the passes, and little if any blame.
