Hundreds of thousands of Chinese students have been coming to our shores for decades now. Not only are they good students(some of whom stay here inthe US) but they are also profitable ones that help keep our small colleges afloat. Since they aren't in state they pay full tuition. I know of one local community college that established complete dominance in NAIA volleyball back in the '90s and '00s due to the fact they had a direct recruiting pipeline to top notch Chinese student athletes. And no, they weren't required to be spies.

As far as farmland goes, they're not buying up farms directly, they're buying up farming corporations. Frankly all corporate farming needs to go, and I agree with the notion that we need to keep American farmland for Americans. China can't feed itself, which is why they want American farmland. Farm goods are one of the last things we can trade internationally, we shouldn't give that away
