My pastor, who is Hispanic, has pointed out that the word "white" in the Bible symbolizes cleanliness and purity. Bright light, clean clothing, holy angels, clean spirits. I am a pale woman because most of my ancestry is from northern Europe. However, I AM NOT WHITE. When I look at myself, I see clearly that I am a sort of beige color. And beige is actually a very pale brown. I suspect that our pale ancestors from northern Europe labeled themselves white because they had been isolated for some centuries and they panicked when they encountered other human beings. It was very sinful to give in to this panicky narcissistic feeling.
