Because I've said (and always believed) that a society's temperament is in many ways influenced by that of its leadership, and that RESPONSIBLE leadership seeks to lead by noble ideas and principles, rather than inspiring the cruelest, bases, most dementedly malevolent of mentalities.

I believe the latter poisons the minds of some, creates discord and division, and influences the rise in hate based sentiment, particularly among those faced with mental challenges or more prone to reprehensible actions

and ESPECIALLY when sentiments such as intolerance and exclusion, become not only the national discourse, but EMBEDDED in party ideology, platform, policy, and excused, if not APPROVED BY LAW.

That's why I like the way Judge McMahon, in her decision, summed up the totality of Donald Trump's and Elon Musk's assault upon Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

Frankly, I sometimes wonder (from responses to such discussions, or sometimes the lack thereof) whether some think DEI is just a Black thing. McMahon reminds us that it is not. That Trump and Musk have targeted us all.

That if we are outraged by any part of it, we SHOULD be outraged by the whole.
