The last time I returned to the US it took me over an hour to get through the Passport control desk. Thank dog I'd had the foresight to use the bathroom before I got there. I'd have hated to have to leave the line and rejoin it for another indeterminate time.
The entire arrival hall was full of international travelers. Only four officers on duty on the US Citizen/Green Card side.
