39. What I saw was a mass of tremendous, growing rage,

the fierceness of his anger,
and his body was on the edge of the chair.
His feet looked like they were ready to spring;
like he could go after her at any moment..

And then he put his hand, buddy like, on her shoulder as he left?

I was frightened for her.
I don't know if she understood what she had just been through.
