67. I found it odd that there was nothing to get angry about.

He steered the topics he spoke (ranted, whined) about. Anything Welker said he simply ignored. Was it the effort of ignoring her that rankled him, or his self-chosen topics of conversation? He seemed to work himself up into a lather by listing a lot of gripes - "man yelling at clouds" style - then huff that he wasn't going to have any more of this terrible conversation with himself.
