1. The Great Lakes do provide a theater for testing naval drones

The Lakes are Great. at least in size, and radio control and signal traffic of surveillance data can be developed and tested.

Can it turn into more of the mentality that every inch of Great Lakes shoreline is a potential port of entry? Absolutely. And turning more US territory deep within the continent into a federal special surveillance zone is something to be very careful about. And it seems no one in the MAGA movement really thinks too deeply about the downsides that technoloty unleashes.

But at the same time, the US developing and perfecting surveillance and counter-drone technology on the lakes is inevitable, considering the DARPA mentality that if we can imagine a problem someone is probably working on making that problem real. Enhancement of counter-naval drone technology is probably on the "to-do" list of things for this project.
