If that happens, Governor Shapiro would appoint a replacement who would probably want to run for election in 2028. It would be a different ballgame if that happens. Also the perfect appointee would be former Senator Bob Casey, who lost his seat in 2024.

In any case I agree with you, that IF Fetterman DOES try to run in 28 he will lose the primary, so other Democrats (including Casey) are waiting in the wings.
