Social change begins with advocacy of what is right and what is needed, not with settling for that which seems possible. There was a time when Abolition, Women's Suffrage, and Civil Rights did not seem possible.

Of course it is an uphill battle. Of course there are dangers.

The Supreme irony in all of this is that many of those who lecture us about how we shouldn't let the perfect be the enemy of the good are actually the ones who are doing that themselves. They're waiting for that perfect safe opportunity to make an easy move in the right direction and they don't accept something that's is very much a good thing, and that is the passionate advocacy for that which we can't quite see yet, for that which seems impossible now.
