9. Been A While Since A Parliamentarian Was Fired...

And IIRC, the Repukes did it when the Parliamentarian ruled against them.

“The last time a Senate parliamentarian was fired was in 2001, when then-Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R-MS) dismissed Parliamentarian Robert Dove.”

Firing the Parliamentarian just for…reasons…would become just one more tit-for-tat that I’m not sure even Thune would want to get into.

Edit for correction. I was correct about the last firing, just mistaken about the replacement being McDonough. She was appointed by Harry Reid.
