6. The current Senator won in 2014, in part

...because his name was the same as a popular politician who was not running for senate, Mayor Dan Sullivan of Anchorage (2009-2015). The IRONY of this senator bitching about name-confusion drips off of the receding permafrost....

Then, in 2016, Mayor Dan Sullivan decided to run for Lisa Murkowski's seat, but pulled his candidacy, mysteriously (according to the Anchorage Daily News) before the election.

Had he succeeded, there would have been TWO senators with the same name from the same state in 2017.
