He was closer than 21 feet and the human reaction gap means a person can cover 6 to 9 feet before your brain processes they have begun moving towards you. You keep avoiding my question of what constitutes a physical threat.
I ask because I have seen particularly egregious definitions that essentially end up meaning there is no right to self-defense. One case in particular sticks with me where a woman was sexually assaulted in her home. Her assailant, then proceeded to take a shower. She retrieved a gun and as he returned to her bedroom, she shot him. The woman was charged with manslaughter. The reason being since the assault had ended, the man presented no further danger to her.
