I have a weird ‘day job’ that has gotten me to some unusual places.

Mt Hopkins observatory gives a commanding view of the desert environment South of Tucson.

Mt Graham observatory near Safford is one of the highest peaks in the state. A spectacular trip to the location, from a semi-desert environment to over 10,000 feet.

Mt Lemmon, to the north of Tucson, gives quite a view towards the North of town.

Let’s just say that the University of Arizona has a renowned astronomy program. A part of which is a lab that can build some VERY advanced mirrors and lenses.

I have had the privilege of a couple tours of the Large Binocular Telescope at Mt Graham. A full-blown “Nerdgasm” is about the best description I can come up with, but I’m an electronics and physics geek.
