CO-SOS: County clerk Amanda Gonzalez wins Democratic nomination for Colorado secretary of state [View all]
Amanda Gonzalez, who is ending her first term as Jefferson County’s clerk and recorder, won the Democratic primary to be Colorado’s next secretary of state.
The Associated Press called the race at 7:25 p.m. Tuesday.
Gonzalez had 62.9% of the vote over state Sen. Jessie Danielson’s 37% as of 7:27 p.m. Tuesday.
Throughout her campaign, Gonzalez touted her experience running elections in Jefferson County and as an election attorney. Danielson ran on her experience developing Colorado election laws during her time in the Colorado Legislature.
