3. Many in our local party were upset that our county chair...

...was planning to run for a state house seat. We needed her in our organization so badly, so I don't blame folks for being upset at the thought of losing her. But she knew someone had to run for that seat and she was willing to step up to do it. It's easy to forget, these candidates are just ordinary folks who are doing their best to defend democracy. They have jobs, families, loads of responsibilities. But we all have to make sacrifices for this thing to work. If Democrats don't run, they can't win!

As it turned out, we got to keep our wonderful chair because 2 or 3 others also stepped up to run for that seat. I am so grateful to all the candidates who decided to make that commitment. And I am grateful for the state party's support and encouragement and efforts to educate about the importance of filling every slot on the ballot. We've had more support from the state party than I've ever seen, so kudos are definitely in order. Bravo, Texas Democratic Party!
