BARTOW, Fla. (WFLA) A Bartow, Florida, man is suing Waffle House after he fell in the parking lot while looking at the restaurants window advertisements.
The lawsuit claims that the Waffle House the 84-year-old Edward Bowlds went to with his wife had an abnormally high curb that was poorly maintained, devoid of any paint or markings indicating a change from the parking lot to the curb, and that the advertisements mounted in the restaurant windows posed a distraction to customers.
These advertisements in the window were of a size, placement, and orientation that they are clearly meant to attract the attention of customers who were already parked, the lawsuit said.
On April 17, 2025, Bowlds was walking across the parking lot to enter the restaurant when he saw the advertisements. While he was stepping up the abnormally high curb he became distracted by the posters, and tripped and fell over the curb, which resulted in severe and permanent injuries, the lawsuit claims. ..................(more)
