I am posting this not because I believe that “Jim Crow” segregation was justifiable, but because in practice segregated transport (and other) services were’t equal..

Let’s take Texas passenger rail in the bad old days:

Passenger waiting rooms for colored people were inferior to the ones provided for Euro-Americans, assuming they were provided at all.

Dining car service: also questionable, assuming that colored people had access to it at all.

As for sleeping car service, I doubt colored people had access to sleeping car service at all.
