I am not saying this is radical conservatism just the general mood of safe stories and old fashioned preference for someone like a conservative Pope and the old tradition speak. However the corruption of so-called conservatism has run very deep and very wide- and now disastrously for all- to justify those comforts. This is why a GOP ham sandwich can still get elected here even though the rot and poison could be easily spotted. Especially the local media catering to its dwindling subscribership.

We no longer have town papers, newspaper boys, paperboxes so rare you can't even see ones for pennysavers unless they have yellowed copies stuffed inside to keep new ones out, a drop in mailed newspapers you wouldn't believe from the old days. Catholic papers are obligatorily mailed to all parishioners, paid for grumpily by parishes. Besides all the new tech media reasons, there has always been complaints about it, but I am not talking about the uplifting, community supportive stuff, but that familiar ideological lean that has muffled, missed or been misled over our present cliff fall so much of any media or people's forum. Should have been front paging and scorching the ICE situation too.
