I can't believe that Richard Harris said McKellen's acting was "passionless."

Of all the roles I've played in my lifetime I enjoyed Shakesperean characters the most. Many people don't understand Shakesperean English. They think it's a totally different language than modern English, but that's no so. True, it needs to be studied, but there really isn't a "translation" problem involved.

An excellent performance by Sir Ian, at any rate. Shakespeare begs for passion in his works.
