All the jokes about Mid west and Wi folks and "Ope" is that a misspelling? [View all]

In Wisconsin I am not sure I've ever heard an "Ope", but I do hear "Oops" on a regular basis

Especially among people too nice to say "oh s**t" or "oh f**k" when things go wrong.

Is this one of those new verbal short cuts for people who like one syllable words, or something your boss is going to want to hear.
